2021 Khanda
Aromatically intense aromas of cherry, sweet earth, baking spices, cinnamon bark, cocoa powder and a hint of vanilla all intertwine in this Bordeaux-style blend. At entry, the wine is full-bodied with tannins that are present and somewhat chewy but not astringent or drying. Flavors of cocoa, dried cherry, plum, sage leaves, and pomegranate linger on the palate.
The grapes for this wine were grown entirely on the Rewa Estate on the eastern benches of Coombsville, Napa Valley. Harvested between September 6th and September 26th, 2021, each portion of the small vineyard was fermented separately, then transferred to French Oak barrels- 60% new. A blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Malbec, the blend spent 21 months in French Oak barrels prior to bottling in July 2023. A total of 352 cases were produced.
